Prepare to take on the pros in competitive match-play tennis at its finest! Tennis Game is an intense, addicting and difficult virtual tennis game where you play against highly skilled computer-controlled opponents in either a once-off exhibition match or a grueling Grand Slam tournament! Hit powerful ground strokes, unstoppable serves, fierce volleys, dipping backhands, commanding forehands, and more as you try to outwit your opponents both physically and mentally (no easy feat!). Vary up your strategy by playing a ‘serve and volley’ tactic, or simply trade blows from the baseline, and see who errors first!

You don’t have to be a real-life Wimbledon wannabe to enjoy the hard-hitting action of this challenging online racket sports activity. Fans of spacebar tapping games, classic sports-based arcade games as well as tennis aficionados should enjoy the exciting competition on offer here. Good hand eye coordination, very fast reactions, and the ability to predict the next shot of your opponent are all key attributes on a the real-life tennis court – and they all apply here too! Also challenge your friends and family to see how far each of them can get in the tournament – and find out who is the true tennis legend in your household or class! Let’s play ball!

How to Play: If unfamiliar with the rules of tennis, here’s a crash course! Your goal during each ‘point’ is to land the ball over the net (in your opponent’s area of the court), and try to make sure your opponent is unable to return the ball to your area of the court (your side of the net). There are three ways for a player to win a ‘point’: 1) by making the opponent hit the ball into the net; 2) by forcing the opponent to hit the ball ‘out’ of the court lines; 3) By making the ball bounce past the opponent in the opposite side of the court / bounce twice in the opponent’s area of the court.

In ‘Tennis Game’, there are two distinct game modes to choose from; Exhibition Mode and Tournament Mode. In Exhibition Mode, you take on a similarly-skilled computer opponent in a once-off tennis match, while in Tournament Mode you are thrown in at the deep end of a Grand Slam Tournament – at the ‘Round of 16’ stage. You must win all 4 of your prospective matches to claim the trophy. The scoring system is as follows; a player has to win 4 points (15-30-40-game) to win a ‘game’. However, a game must be won by two clear points. For example, if the game score is 40-40 (aka ‘Deuce’), a player has to win two points in a row (advantage-game) to win that game. Here, each match-up is up to 3 games. However, a match must be won by two clear games (i.e. 3-1, 3-0). If the match goes to 2-2, you still must win by 2 clear games to advance (i.e. 4-2, 5-3 etc).

Use the Arrow Keys on your computer keyboard to control your player’s movement (Your player is always at the bottom end of the court / game screen). Press Spacebar to swing your racket. The key here is timing your swing for the exact moment the ball reaches your player. As you make contact with the ball, press an Arrow Key to direct the ball toward your desired area of the court. Good luck and enjoy!
